Tom I enjoyed the presentation this week and support the proposal. My only issue is the funding as I believe rate payers will need assistance either directly or through businesses for construction and maintenance. An Bondi “icebergs” style club that could contribute in the same way as the Blue Duck does.
Hi Duncan, thanks for your query, I have sent it to Tom Locke and will publish his response. But he will contact you directly.
Message for Duncan from Tom Locke;
Hi Duncan, as ratepayers in Cottesloe I groan under the weight of my rates. It has always been said from the start that there would not be a request to ratepayers to fund the pool. There are number of user groups including swimmers ( several sub groups here including : winter swim club, Masters, ocean/triathlete/ water polo/ surf life saving/ learn to swim/scuba learners. Etc. Then the Disabled sport and recreation users; The disabled of all ages from the cradle upwards..rehabilotees of all ages and ailments… this makes a broad cross section who can put up a unique proposal for Lotteries & Sport & Rec funding. then there is private philanthropic funding. The cost of this pool is less than some private homes in Cottesloe and the surrounding districts. The funding stage will be easier than the journey thus far, rgds Tom Locke
